Red Ribbon Week story time at all Berks County
libraries: Red Ribbon Week is celebrated in schools throughout
the country every October. It is a week dedicated to drug prevention,
which started in 1985 when the family of fallen Drug Enforcement Agency
officer Kiki Camarena wore red ribbons in his memory. Not Tonight
and the Berks County Library System will take Red Ribbon Week into
the community by hosting a story time event in each library branch
throughout the county. The Story of the Red Ribbon is a
children’s book that weaves a tale of community empowerment into a
charming fairy tale. Community leaders such as elected officials and
members of law enforcement will be invited to be guest readers. Watch
this site and the Reading Eagle for updated event information.
Designated driver initiative: ThanksgivingEve is the single highest day for drunk driving incidents. To
prevent unnecessary accidents, injuries and tragedies, Not Tonight
will again be partnering with local bars and restaurants to promote
the use of a designated driver. Watch the Reading Eagle or

details.
DUI prevention
December
Campaign Celebration: The Holiday Season is
a time of great celebration, and Not Tonight will again mount a
media campaign to promote safe festivities and prevent driving under the
influence. Similar to the Sober Prom 2006 campaign, sober celebration
and DUI prevention messages will be on billboards throughout Berks
County , as well as on the radio and in the newspapers.
