Creating Lasting Family Connections (CLFC)
Creating Lasting Family Connections (CLFC) is a comprehensive
family strengthening, substance abuse and violence prevention curriculum that
provides parents and youth information, education and skills to improve
communication and raise family resiliency.
The program encourages personal growth among its participants
through increasing self-awareness, expression of feelings, interpersonal
communication, and self-disclosure. Participants are taught social skills,
refusal skills, and information and education on alcohol and drugs and their
associated risks. Additionally, parents and primary caregivers receive
information pertinent to family management.
This 15-week curriculum has demonstrated results in reducing
alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) use, delaying the onset of ATOD use, and
reducing uncontrolled and violent behavior in youth.
